- ☽ ✧ - Δ - ✧ ☾ - Some decks I have I purchased for just one picture or card and this was one of them. It was the depiction of the crone or number 42 for me with her raven cloak and druids staff. Since, most of the artwork has become favorites except for the obviously Jewish or semitic ones. This irritates me for witchcraft of the old ways is celtic and anglo/norse and much older than many of the later appropriated symbols of these wannabe wics/anglo cunning folk. That said there are many versions of Wicca and I would dare say that some Wiccans haven't even gone through degrees therefore aren't the best in getting information from.
I did study Wicca first degree over a year quite a while back at the beginning of accepting my witchy side. And it obviously was not me - I'm a witch of the old ways, I don't believe in karma or do no harm especially in the case of my enemies or those that wantingly harm this mother earth and the creatures we are supposed to look after on it. I also don't take kindly to the wanting destruction of varying cultures especially of my own/heritage to make everyone the same or give validation to a group who does not have my ancestry. I just had to get this in here to put the following in context. I appreciate this deck but...
... as a witch of the old ways I work with its symbology along with corrections to represent the real old witches of Europe and my ancestors both druid, wics, and witcas of old. I have listed the cards in this post along with my overall interpretation of the card. I will do a vlog series of going through these cards one at a time in order to be used for those of us Wic folk of European ancestry. In this I will also bring up some of the Wiccan beliefs in comparison, but bare in mind not all wiccans are the same and there are many strands beyond the modern gardner's Wicca. I have a bunch of taken pictures, to show off the deck.
This deck is fantastic for single card a day reads and if there is some cards you just can't work with, you can just take them out of the deck and store them back in the box. The Shekinah card is like that for me, unless I can just use it for astrological and swan focus card symbolically speaking. From chapter ''the wicca
Except from Introduction
... So many children, in their innocence and purity, see fairies and the spirits of the elements while their eyes are fully open.
It is such a sadness to me when the magical little people are swept under the carpet and denied all the good work they accomplish on our behalf, and children cease to believe their own eyes.
Unless their gift of second sight is strong, they grow into adults devoid of the world of spirit. Magic,
for them, has ceased to exist...
